This Milwaukee watercolor print shows the white wings of the Milwaukee Art Museum on the shore of Lake Michigan, with the downtown skyline behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Milwaukee, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines detail the steel fins of the museum's wings, the angled mast of the cable-stayed bridge and the masts in the marina. The breakwater stones are drawn as white-gray blocks with shadows, and the lake is laid in deep blue horizontal strokes. The palette is Lake Michigan blue and museum white, accented by Cream City brick, sandy building tones, lawn green and an orange-red kite. The Quadracci Pavilion sits in the center with its wings open above a pointed glass hall, the Reiman Bridge leans in on the left, and the concrete War Memorial Center is on the right. The water fills nearly the lower half, with a stone breakwater running diagonally and a marina on the right in midsummer. "MILWAUKEE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Orange kite. An orange kite flies over the lakeside lawn.
- Marina masts. A marina full of sailboat masts sits on the right.
- Breakwater stroll. Walkers and cyclists follow the lakeside path and the stone breakwater.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Lake blue and crisp white suit a coastal-modern living room, a bathroom or an office with white oak. It is a great gift for a Milwaukee native, a design lover or a friend who spent summers on Lake Michigan.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Milwaukee? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Milwaukee lakefront, simplified into loose watercolor shapes.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MILWAUKEE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
