This Melbourne watercolor print shows Flinders Street Station across the Yarra River, with Princes Bridge and the spires of St Paul's Cathedral nearby. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Melbourne, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The Yarra is built from layered, clear blue washes that hold gold reflections of the station. Fine ink lines trace the dome, arched windows and clock tower, and loose dabs of fall foliage break into splatter at both edges, with a single drip running down the lower left. The palette pairs ochre and copper green with river blue, plus orange leaves and a green tram. The station sits right of center, seen on a diagonal from the Southbank side, with the three spires of St Paul's Cathedral on the left, the stone arches of Princes Bridge across the middle and glass towers behind. Early fall sets the mood, and the top of the sheet is left as open white paper. "MELBOURNE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Rowers on the Yarra. Two eight-person rowing crews pull across the river below the station.
- Tram on the bridge. A green-and-white tram crosses Princes Bridge in the middle ground.
- Ochre and copper green. The station's warm ochre walls and green dome set the color story for the whole print.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The ochre, blue and autumn orange suit a living room or home office with wood tones, navy or warm neutrals. It makes a thoughtful gift for someone who studied or once lived in Melbourne.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Melbourne? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Melbourne built around Flinders Street Station and the Yarra, painted in a loose watercolor style rather than copied from one exact viewpoint.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MELBOURNE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
