A McArthur-Burney Falls State Park poster that faces the falls straight on from the pool. Two heavy chutes drop over the lip while dozens of thinner spring seeps push straight out of the porous basalt face between them, so the whole cliff appears to be leaking water. Moss, fern and low green scrub cover the wall, a rust-coloured lava bluff runs off to the right, and the plunge pool below is flat and pale turquoise.
About the artwork
A dense, painterly illustration in which the water is drawn as hundreds of separate white and pale-blue threads rather than a single sheet. The palette is deep forest green and moss, wet basalt in charcoal and rust brown, cream white water, and a milky turquoise pool, all under a soft blue sky with piled cumulus. A big cinnamon-red conifer trunk anchors the left edge and branches close over the top corners, so you view the falls through the trees. Below the image, white type reads MCARTHUR-BURNEY, FALLS MEMORIAL, then STATE PARK and CALIFORNIA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The seeping wall, drawn properly — the side springs that make this waterfall unusual are the centre of the composition, not an afterthought.
- Green on green on green — moss, fern and fir give it more depth than most waterfall prints manage.
- Northern California, not the coast — volcanic Shasta County country, a long way from the redwood and beach prints.
- A second take on a favourite — this is the full state park view; the store also carries a Burney Falls print drawn in a different style and crop, so the two hang together without repeating each other.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep greens and cool water tones make this a calming print for a bathroom, bedroom or a shaded hallway, and it holds up against sage, olive or warm white walls. Espresso and walnut frames sit naturally with the conifer trunk; a white frame keeps the water bright. It works beside plants, as in the arched alcove and fiddle-leaf fig rooms photographed above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The fine water threads gain a lot at 24" x 36" and above. For a small bathroom or a narrow hallway, 12" x 18" still reads clearly because the composition is centred.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
How is this different from the other Burney Falls print? Same waterfall, different artwork. This one is the McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park design, drawn wide from the pool with the framing conifers; the other Burney Falls print in the store is a separate illustration with its own style and crop, so you can pick whichever suits the room.
What does the poster say? The lettering reads MCARTHUR-BURNEY FALLS MEMORIAL, with STATE PARK and CALIFORNIA beneath. The park is near Burney in Shasta County, off Highway 89.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
