This Malibu watercolor print shows Malibu Pier stretching across the water above Surfrider Beach, with surfers riding long waves below. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Malibu, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Layered turquoise and blue washes build the surf, with bands of foam left as bare white paper. Fine ink lines pick out the pier pilings and rooftops, and drips of blue and yellow run down the left edge. The palette pairs sea turquoise and sand gold with gray-green coastal sage, lifted by pink bougainvillea, red roof tiles and a red surfboard. The view looks down from a high bluff: the pier runs across the middle, a white Spanish-style house with a red tile roof sits among palms on the left, and the Santa Monica Mountains and a long shoreline fill the back. A brushy slope with agave and a wooden staircase anchors the foreground in late summer light. "MALIBU" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Surfers in motion. Riders on long, even waves and two boards standing upright in the sand give the beach a lived-in feel.
- Pelicans over the water. A pair of pelicans skims low above the surf, a small detail you notice up close.
- Bluff-top viewpoint. Looking down the slope, past a wooden stair to the sand, puts you right above the pier.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The turquoise and sandy tones sit easily in a beach-house living room, a bright bedroom or a sunroom with white walls and natural wood. It makes a thoughtful gift for a surfer, a California transplant or anyone who spent summers on this stretch of coast.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Malibu? No. This is an artistic interpretation of Malibu, and the pier's angle and some surrounding details are simplified or rearranged to suit the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MALIBU," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
