This Madrid watercolor print looks down Calle de Alcalá from a rooftop terrace, with the black-domed Metrópolis Building and its golden Victory statue at the start of Gran Vía. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Madrid, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Yellow and orange washes layer the autumn trees along the avenue, and the black dome is drawn in dark ink with gold detail. Orange-red and blue drips run at the lower left, with orange and blue splatter around the edges. Cream stone facades and saffron and orange leaves form the palette, with a slate-black dome trimmed in gold, a red city bus and a terracotta church as accents. The Metrópolis Building stands on the left with the golden statue reaching the top, Calle de Alcalá runs diagonally into the center between stone facades with towers and domes, and a red brick church sits on the right. Rooftops and the blue-violet Sierra de Guadarrama fill the background in early fall. "MADRID" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Rooftop vantage. A stone balustrade in the lower left puts you on a terrace above the avenue.
- Golden Victory statue. The gilded figure atop the Metrópolis dome catches the eye at the top of the frame.
- City traffic. A red bus, white taxis and a corner café under white umbrellas bring the street to life.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cream, saffron and black look elegant in a living room, a dining room or a study with dark wood. It's a memorable gift for someone who studied abroad in Madrid or a couple celebrating a trip to Spain.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Madrid? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of central Madrid, capturing the feel of an autumn afternoon rather than every facade exactly.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MADRID," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
