This Louisville watercolor print shows the Twin Spires above the Churchill Downs grandstand as horses race along the dirt track. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Louisville, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines outline the tiered grandstand, the white railings and the two spires, and the ochre-brown track carries streaks of kicked-up dust. The palette pairs infield grass green and track brown with the stone gray of the grandstand roof, plus red roses and bright jockey silks. The grandstand stretches across the upper scene with the spires at center, the Churchill Downs racetrack curves in from the left, and five horses gallop toward the right past white rails and red flower beds. In the lower left foreground, spectators in wide-brimmed hats stand behind red rose bushes. It is spring, and the lower edge dissolves into rose, pink and moss drips with red and green splatter. "LOUISVILLE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Silks in motion. Five jockeys in multicolored silks drive their horses down the stretch.
- Hats and roses. Ladies in wide-brimmed hats trimmed with large roses fill the foreground.
- Festive crowd. Green umbrellas under the grandstand and many small figures add a lively race-day mood.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The red, green and brown palette brings energy to a game room, a home bar or a dining room with dark wood. Give it to a horse racing fan, a Kentucky native, or anyone who has spent a spring race day in Louisville.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Louisville? No. It is an artistic interpretation, and the viewpoint and some background details are arranged for the painting.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "LOUISVILLE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
