This Indianapolis watercolor print shows the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument rising from Monument Circle, with red tulips and a tiered fountain at its base. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Indianapolis, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Dense dabs of red and pink paint form the tulip beds in front, and pink drips run along the left and bottom edges. A white flowering tree sits in a pale wash on the left, while fine ink lines outline the bronze statues and lamp posts. The palette is limestone cream and dark bronze with spring green, plus tulip pink, brick red and the green copper roof of Christ Church Cathedral. The monument stands in the center with the Victory statue touching the top of the picture, seen from above at an angle, with the Gothic cathedral spire on the left and Chase Tower and other glass towers behind on the right. The season is mid-spring, when the tulips and white blossoms are open. "INDIANAPOLIS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Tulip foreground. Thick red and pink tulip beds lead the eye up to the monument.
- Horse-drawn carriage. A white carriage carries passengers around the circle, with strollers and a few cars nearby.
- Raised viewpoint. The view looks down on the round plaza, so the full circle and its fountain fit in one frame.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The cream and green base with pops of pink suits a bright entryway, a bedroom or a sunny kitchen. It also makes a nice graduation or new-job gift for someone who calls Indy home.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Indianapolis? No. It is an artistic interpretation. The circle is shown from a higher angle than street level, and some buildings are sized for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "INDIANAPOLIS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
