A Humboldt Redwoods Avenue of the Giants poster looking straight down the two-lane road that runs through the park's old growth. Colossal fluted trunks stand on both shoulders like columns, a single small blue car sits far down the centre line, and the road carries the eye into a bright gap of sky and cumulus between the crowns.
About the artwork
Painterly illustration in long vertical strokes, with the bark drawn as deep fluted channels rather than flat colour blocks. The palette runs warm brown, tan and umber in the trunks, layered olive to blue-green in the receding conifers, dark slate in the roadside shadow, then opens to pale blue sky and a cream cloud bank at the vanishing point. The double yellow line and the small blue car are the only man-made marks in the image, and they carry the entire sense of scale. Type is printed in white at the base: HUMBOLDT REDWOODS above STATE PARK-CALIFORNIA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Scale you can measure — the car is roughly one twentieth the height of the trunks beside it, which is the point of the whole composition.
- One-point perspective — the road runs dead centre to a bright vanishing point, so the print pulls a narrow wall or hallway deeper.
- The largest remaining old-growth coast redwood forest — Humboldt Redwoods holds around 17,000 acres of it, most of it along this road.
- A road-trip picture — it belongs to anyone who has driven the 31-mile Avenue slowly with the windows down.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm brown bark and a pale sky centre make this an easy fit on cream, camel or greige walls, and it is one of the few forest prints that also works in a wood-panelled room. Natural oak or espresso framing carries the trunk colour through. Because of the central perspective it earns its place at the end of a hallway or above a desk, as in the herringbone-floor photograph above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The car is a small mark, so stay at 16" x 24" or above. On a tall narrow wall, 20" x 30" or 24" x 36" suits the vertical trunks best.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed type reads HUMBOLDT REDWOODS, with STATE PARK-CALIFORNIA on the line below.
What is the Avenue of the Giants? A 31-mile scenic road paralleling Highway 101 through Humboldt Redwoods State Park in northern California, between Phillipsville and Pepperwood, with grove pull-outs the whole way.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
