This Houston watercolor print shows the downtown skyline rising above Buffalo Bayou, with kayaks on the water and wildflowers along the banks. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Houston, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw the glass grids of the towers, the stepped Dutch-style gables of the red granite Bank of America Center and the truss of a footbridge. Oak canopies are built up in olive green layers, the bayou is laid in turquoise horizontal strokes with reflections, and wildflowers are dotted in blue-violet and yellow. The palette is blue glass and pale granite, oak and grass greens and turquoise water, with accents of brick red, bluebonnet blue, wildflower yellow and red and blue kayaks. Heritage Plaza stands left of center with its stepped top in the upper third, the Bank of America Center with its pointed top sits in the middle, and an arched footbridge crosses on the right. The winding bayou fills the foreground, with a shaded trail on the left in mid-spring. "HOUSTON" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Bluebonnets on the bank. Blue-violet bluebonnets and yellow wildflowers line the water.
- Three kayaks. Three kayakers paddle along the turquoise bayou.
- Busy bayou trail. A cyclist, a jogger and a family with kids share the trail under the oaks.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Greens, turquoise and touches of brick red suit a family room, a home office or an entryway with warm wood. Give it to a Houstonian who loves the bayou trails or as a housewarming gift for a new Texas home.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Houston? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Houston, and some details, like the water color and the footbridge, are simplified for the painting.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "HOUSTON," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
