This Holland, Michigan watercolor print shows Holland Harbor Light, known as Big Red, on the channel pier, seen from the beach on the north side of the channel. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the harbor, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The channel is painted blue with horizontal ripples, and the lighthouse's red reflection streaks down through the water. Big Red is washed in flat, bright red with fine ink detail, and dune grass is drawn in green and gold dry-brush strokes. The lighthouse stands on the concrete pier at middle right with a lantern tower on its roof and tall wooded dunes behind, while a white pier-end light marks the channel mouth at the left. Sandy beach, dune grass and diagonal sand fencing fill the foreground, with the hazy Lake Michigan horizon beyond in mid spring. The palette is Lake Michigan blue, dune beige and moss green, with one bold red accent. "HOLLAND" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Bold red focal point. Big Red's bright color and its reflection draw the eye straight to the lighthouse.
- Simple, airy layout. Open sky, water and sand give the print a calm, uncluttered look.
- Channel traffic. A white sailboat and a powerboat with a wake head out between the piers.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The single red accent makes it a strong choice for a neutral living room, an entryway or a kids' room with primary colors. Give it to someone who grew up on Michigan's west shore, or as a souvenir of a summer on Lake Michigan.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Holland, Michigan? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Holland Harbor and Big Red. The lighthouse's shape is simplified a little.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "HOLLAND," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
