This Helsinki watercolor print shows the white Helsinki Cathedral with its green domes high above an icy South Harbour in winter. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Helsinki, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The cathedral is left almost entirely as bare paper, outlined in thin gray ink with cool blue shadows. Thin harbor ice is shown as white paper broken by blue strokes, under soft blue-violet clouds. Snow white and ice blue lead the palette, with celadon-green copper domes and accents of pale yellow, the brick red of Uspenski Cathedral and orange-red market stalls. Helsinki Cathedral stands at the top center on its high steps, Uspenski Cathedral sits on a rocky hill to the right and neoclassical buildings line the waterfront above Market Square. Snow covers the roofs, and blue drips and splatter fade into the white border. "HELSINKI" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Winter market stalls. Bundled-up shoppers browse canvas stalls on Market Square.
- Gulls on the ice. Seagulls stand on floating ice while two white island ferries wait at the pier.
- Two cathedrals, one view. White Helsinki Cathedral and red-brick Uspenski Cathedral face each other across the harbor.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The cool white, blue and celadon palette fits a calm bedroom, a gray-toned living room or a bright home office. It makes a quiet holiday gift for someone with Finnish roots or a traveler who loves northern winters.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Helsinki? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Helsinki in a watercolor-and-ink style, arranged for the composition rather than copied from one exact spot.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "HELSINKI," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
