This Grand Central Terminal watercolor print shows the Beaux-Arts facade with its three great arched windows and sculpted clock in New York City, seen from Pershing Square. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the terminal, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines detail the paired columns, arched windows, statue group and clock face, and the MetLife Building behind is a transparent blue wash with a gridded window pattern. Trees on the left are dabbed in green and yellow, and gold-brown drips run down both edges. The palette is warm stone beige, glass blue and verdigris green on the roof and sculptures, with yellow taxis, a green café umbrella and a red awning as accents. The facade sits in the center, viewed north from Pershing Square at Park Avenue and 42nd Street; the stone arches of the Park Avenue Viaduct curve to the right with taxis on top, the MetLife Building rises behind, and the Chrysler Building spire appears on the right. The 42nd Street crosswalk, a hot-dog cart and café tables under the viaduct fill the foreground in high summer light. "NEW YORK" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Mercury and the clock. The sculpture group of Mercury, Hercules and Minerva around the large clock crowns the facade.
- Street food corner. A hot-dog cart with a striped umbrella draws a small line on the corner of 42nd Street.
- Two skyline neighbors. The MetLife Building and the Chrysler Building spire rise behind the terminal.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its warm beige and verdigris greens look good in an entryway, home office or dining room with cream walls and black hardware. Give it to a commuter who passed through the terminal for years, or to anyone who loves trains. Pair it with our New York City watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Grand Central Terminal? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the terminal and its surroundings, and some nearby buildings are arranged for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "NEW YORK," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
