This Glasgow watercolor print shows the Gothic tower of the University of Glasgow rising over Kelvingrove Park, with the red sandstone Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the River Kelvin below. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Glasgow, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink lines trace the Gothic tower and the red sandstone facades, while the autumn treetops are built up in layered, dotted washes. The palette runs from copper orange and reddish sandstone brown to moss green, with clear blue in the river and sky. The university tower stands tall right of center, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum sits on the left in the middle ground, and the River Kelvin curves past a three-arch stone bridge in the lower right. The foreground trees are fuller than usual, and the edges dissolve into dotted foliage, a long orange-red drip at the lower left and scattered splatter on a wide white paper border. Distant purple hills sit under a pale sky. "GLASGOW" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Autumn copper canopy. Dense layers of orange and russet leaves frame the whole scene.
- Riverside walkers. A dog walker and a cyclist share the path along the River Kelvin.
- Sandstone terraces. A row of stone houses with tall chimneys lines the right side.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The copper, rust and moss tones sit well in a living room or study with warm wood, leather or deep green walls. It makes a thoughtful gift for a University of Glasgow graduate or anyone who once lived in Glasgow.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Glasgow? No. This is an artistic interpretation of Glasgow painted in a watercolor style, so the layout is arranged for the composition rather than copied from a single viewpoint.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "GLASGOW," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
