This Galway watercolor print shows the colorful houses of the Long Walk along the water, with traditional hooker boats moored in the foreground. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Galway, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Calm blue water carries long, multicolored reflections of the houses. The rust-red sails are laid on in thick washes with thin ink rigging, and the gray limestone is drawn in blocks with ink edges. Water blue and limestone gray lead the palette, with red, butter-yellow, blue and pink facades and accents of rust red and the copper-green dome of Galway Cathedral. The Long Walk stretches across the left and center, the stone Spanish Arch stands at the end of the quay on the right and the cathedral dome sits in the far distance, while Claddagh Basin opens out with swans on the water. It is early summer, with pink-orange drips at the lower left and splatter on the white paper border. "GALWAY" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Red-sailed hookers. Two black-hulled Galway hooker boats with rust-red sails sit beside the stone quay.
- Rainbow of facades. Red, yellow, blue and pink houses reflect in long stripes across the calm water.
- Swans and strollers. Three white swans drift on the basin while people walk the length of the quay.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The bright facades and harbor blue bring cheer to a kitchen, a breakfast nook or a bedroom with white walls. It makes a heartfelt gift for someone with Irish roots or a friend who fell for Galway on a trip west.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Galway? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Galway. Some details are simplified or reshaped, such as a taller church spire and a Spanish Arch drawn more like a stone gateway.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "GALWAY," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
