A Dundurn Castle poster from the bottom of the drive: a pale gravel path curving up a long mown lawn, mature trees leaning in from both sides, and the cream neoclassical villa with its columned portico standing at the top under a hard blue sky.
About the artwork
A garden print more than an architectural one. The lawn is the largest shape in the frame and is drawn in broad sweeps of two greens, cut across by the deep blue-green shadows of the trees, so most of the ground is in shade and the house is in full sun. The path is left almost white where the light falls on it. The trees are handled as dense masses with a few individual boughs picked out against the sky, and the villa itself — pale stucco, tall sash windows, a Doric portico, a low balustrade — is kept small and precise at the end of the view. Title in white capitals, HAMILTON above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Shade and sun. The cool shadowed lawn against the sunlit house is what gives this print its depth.
- A Regency villa in Ontario. Unexpected architecture for a Canadian travel poster, and the reason it does not look like the rest of the set.
- Green for a green room. Almost entirely foliage and grass, so it suits a conservatory, sunroom or plant-filled corner.
- Local heritage. A house museum many Hamilton families have visited on a school trip or a summer afternoon.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep greens read best against warm white and cream; on a grey wall the shadows go flat. Natural oak and espresso frames both suit it, and it looks especially good in a room with older furniture. The strong central path means it hangs well on its own above a fireplace, where the symmetry has room to work.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What is the house? Dundurn Castle, the nineteenth-century villa and house museum on the harbour side of Hamilton, Ontario, seen from its front lawn.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
