A Distillery District poster from the middle of the lane: Victorian brick warehouses running away in hard perspective, a run of steel catwalks and pipes bridging the gap overhead, a green cast-iron lamppost close on the right, and glass condo towers rising behind the old roofline.
About the artwork
Built on one long diagonal. The whole left wall — tall arched windows, brick pilasters, a stone plinth — recedes to a vanishing point, and the herringbone brick paving does the same underneath it, so the print pulls you down the street. The palette is deliberately two-note: warm rust and terracotta brick against a hard turquoise sky and teal window glass, with the lamppost and the catwalk struts in dark green. Nineteenth-century industry in the foreground, twenty-first-century glass behind it, which is exactly what this block looks like now. Title in white capitals, TORONTO above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Toronto without the skyline. A print for people who know the city at street level rather than from a postcard.
- Brick and turquoise. A hard complementary pairing that gives the print more punch than most heritage-district art.
- Industrial detail. Catwalks, pipes, arched windows and stone sills are all drawn, not implied.
- Weddings and first dates. One of the most-photographed pedestrian streets in Toronto, and a lot of people have a memory on it.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Brick red wants warm or neutral company — cream, camel, greige — and it looks especially good in a room that already has exposed brick or dark metal in it. Black frames match the ironwork; oak softens the contrast. Because the composition is a deep corridor, it is a strong choice for a narrow hallway or the wall at the end of one.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What are the overhead structures? The steel catwalks and pipework that link the old distillery buildings above the lane, kept from the site's industrial years.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
