A Cherry Springs night sky poster with the Milky Way core standing straight up the middle of the frame, thick with dust lanes and star fields, banked either side by heavy cloud. Below it a last orange line of sunset lies along the Appalachian ridges, and a brass refractor telescope stands on its tripod in the meadow grass at lower left.
About the artwork
Painterly, high-detail illustration rather than flat vector, with the galactic core rendered in swirling amber, ochre and pale blue against ink-blue sky, and thousands of small white stars scattered across it. The clouds are modelled in warm grey and buff, catching light from the horizon. Below, a narrow band of coral and rust sunset separates the sky from ridges in deep forest green and blue-black, with olive and straw grass in the foreground. The telescope is drawn in bright brass and copper. Type reads CHERRY SPRINGS / STATE PARK in white capitals, PENNSYLVANIA spaced beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Built around the dark sky — Cherry Springs is one of the darkest places in the eastern United States, and the print gives the sky three quarters of the frame.
- The telescope tells you where you are — a small human detail that turns a star field into a specific field in Potter County.
- Warm inside a dark picture — amber galaxy and a coral sunset line stop the deep blues going cold.
- A quiet, low-light image — it suits a bedroom or a den far better than a bright landscape does.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Dark prints need a wall that lets them breathe: warm white, greige or deep navy all work, and the amber in the galaxy ties straight into brass and walnut. A black or espresso frame keeps the night reading as night; a white frame will lift it if the wall is dark. It is a natural choice above a bed, and the matte canvas is worth considering here since there is no glass to bounce lamplight back at you.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The star field is fine-grained, so bigger is better — 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" over a bed or sofa. Below 16" x 24" the smaller stars begin to merge.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? CHERRY SPRINGS on the first line, STATE PARK on the second, and PENNSYLVANIA in smaller spaced capitals below.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
