This Cape Byron Lighthouse poster looks along the headland at the eastern edge of Australia, where a small white tower stands on a green clifftop above deep blue water. Windswept tussock grass leans across the foreground, dark coastal shrubs cling to the slope, and surf breaks white against the grey rock far below.
About the artwork
A flat vector travel-poster illustration built from clean shapes and long diagonal shadows rather than photographic detail. The palette runs from a bright cyan sky through teal and cobalt open ocean to olive, lime and straw-gold grasses, with cool grey banded rock making up the cliff face. The composition sets the lighthouse high and small in the upper third so the eye follows the headland down and forward, out of the frame. Across the sky the poster prints BYRON BAY in wide white capitals with AUSTRALIA spaced smaller beneath it. A thin white margin frames the scene on all four sides. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A real sense of height. The cliff drops away below the tower, so the print reads as a viewpoint rather than a flat postcard.
- Two blues that carry a room. Cyan sky against deep teal water gives you a cool anchor colour without going grey.
- Movement in the foreground. The bent grasses make the whole lower half feel like it is caught mid-gust.
- Legible from across the room. The white tower against open sky stays clear even at the smaller paper sizes.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The cyan and teal in this print sit well against warm off-white, soft putty or a pale sand wall, where the ocean band becomes the strongest colour in the room. A light oak or ash frame picks up the straw-gold grass at the base; black works if you want the white tower to snap forward. It suits a bathroom or a coastal-leaning bedroom, and it pairs naturally with linen, jute and unglazed terracotta. Hang it where daylight crosses the wall so the greens stay lively.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? For a small wall or a gallery grouping, 12" x 18" or 18" x 24" works well. Above a sofa or bed, choose 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" so the cliff face keeps its scale.
Does it come framed? Paper prints arrive rolled and unframed. Canvas can be ordered stretched, or as a framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
Is the lighthouse text part of the print? Yes. The words BYRON BAY and AUSTRALIA are printed in white across the sky as part of the artwork and cannot be removed.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
