A Brazos Bend State Park poster from the edge of a bayou on the Texas gulf coastal plain. An American alligator lies stretched across the clay bank in the foreground, head turned toward the water. Behind it a still oxbow reflects the sky, fringed by duckweed, and huge bald cypress trunks rise on both sides, hung with long grey curtains of Spanish moss.
About the artwork
Painted in dense layers rather than flat vector blocks. The cypress bark is drawn in vertical ridges, the moss in hundreds of separate hanging strands, and the alligator is scaled and plated ridge by ridge along its back and tail. The palette is humid and warm: rust and terracotta clay on the bank, olive and moss green in the understorey, tan and grey-brown cypress trunks, and a bronze-brown water surface that turns pale blue where it mirrors the sky. Bright green duckweed patches float on the right. Overhead, cream cumulus piles into a clear blue gap between the canopies, with a single bird in flight. Lettering runs across the lower band in white capitals: BRAZOS BEND, with STATE PARK and TEXAS in smaller spaced caps beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The alligator is the subject — not a distant detail. It fills the foreground, which is exactly what the park is known for.
- Wet Texas, not desert Texas — bayou, cypress and Spanish moss, a side of the state most travel prints skip.
- Real depth — the flanking trunks frame a long view down the water to a far treeline, so the print pulls the eye through it.
- Green that stays warm — the terracotta bank keeps the heavy greens from reading cold on the wall.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep greens and rust clay want a warm background — cream, oat or a soft olive wall rather than cool grey. Natural oak and espresso frames both work; espresso picks up the cypress bark. It suits a den, a study or a hallway with wood floors, much like the herringbone floor and stacked books in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? There is a lot of fine moss and bark detail here, so 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" pays off on a large wall. At 16" x 24" the alligator and the water still read clearly.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and rolled. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The large line reads BRAZOS BEND only, with STATE PARK and TEXAS set smaller underneath. Note that this is Brazos Bend, on the coastal plain southwest of Houston, and not Big Bend in far west Texas — two different parks with very different scenery.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
