This Boathouse Row Philadelphia watercolor print shows the Victorian boathouses of Philadelphia's Boathouse Row lined up across the Schuylkill River. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the riverfront, not a literal view.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink outlines gables, turrets, cupolas and white trim, while green-blue washes form the river with reflections and bright paper highlights. The boathouses stretch across the middle ground, viewed from the grassy west bank. The golden Philadelphia Museum of Art sits on its hill at the left, and the Center City skyline shows above the trees. Willow branches and a lamp-lined path frame the foreground. Fresh greens point to late spring rowing season, and the left edge melts into red-orange drips. "PHILADELPHIA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Rowing crews out. Two long sculls with full crews and a coach's launch glide across the calm river.
- Museum on the hill. The golden museum adds a warm accent above the boathouses and trees.
- Flag over the boathouses. An American flag flies from one boathouse, and two joggers run the riverside path.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The fresh greens and brick reds suit a study, a family room or a lake-house style bedroom with navy and cream. It's a great gift for a college rower, a former crew coach or anyone who jogs the river trail. Pair it with our Philadelphia watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Boathouse Row Philadelphia? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Boathouse Row, and some landmarks, including the museum, are moved around to fit the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "PHILADELPHIA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
