This Block Island watercolor print shows the red-brick Southeast Lighthouse on top of the Mohegan Bluffs, seen from the stony beach below. It is an artist's watercolor-style impression of the island, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The bluffs are painted in bands of ochre, gray and cream clay, with fine ink lines following the cracks. The lighthouse and its brick keeper's house are washed in warm brick orange, and white surf curls around rounded stones. The octagonal tower with a black lantern stands at the top right, wooden stairs zigzag down the bluff on the right, and the sea and a distant headland open up at the left. The palette is clay ochre, sea blue and shrub green, with brick red as the accent, under a clear late summer sky. Orange-red streaks fade off the right edge and yellow drips run down the left. "BLOCK ISLAND" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Banded clay cliffs. Layers of ochre, gray and cream give the bluffs a strong vertical presence.
- Zigzag stairway. Wooden steps winding down the bluff invite you into the scene.
- Brick lighthouse accent. The warm red tower and keeper's house glow against the blue sky.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
Ochre, blue and brick red bring warmth to a living room, a reading nook or a study with wood tones. It is a lovely gift for a couple who spent a summer weekend on the island, or for anyone with family ties to Rhode Island.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Block Island? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Mohegan Bluffs and Southeast Lighthouse, simplified in watercolor washes.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "BLOCK ISLAND," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
