This Big Bear Lake watercolor print shows the deep blue mountain lake from its pine-covered north shore, looking south toward snowy peaks. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the California mountain lake, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Deep blue washes cover the lake with streaks of bare paper for light on the water. Fine brown ink outlines granite boulders, log cabins and boat docks, and the snow on rocks and pine boughs is left as white paper with cool violet shadows. The lake fills the middle with small rocky coves, cabins and docks sit among the pines on the left, and pale ski runs mark the south-shore slopes below the snow-capped San Bernardino Mountains. Big snow-dusted boulders and tall Jeffrey pines frame the foreground. Blue, pine green, granite gray and white set a cool early-winter mood. "BIG BEAR LAKE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Fresh snow on granite. Rounded boulders in the foreground wear caps of new snow left as clean white paper.
- Ski runs across the lake. Pale runs on the far slopes hint at winter days on the mountain.
- Lakeshore walk. Two hikers and a dog follow the shore trail while small fishing boats cross the water.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool blues and pine greens suit a cabin-style living room, a bedroom with wool throws or an entryway with dark wood. It is a fitting gift for a family that rents a Big Bear cabin every winter or a couple who got engaged by the lake.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Big Bear Lake? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of Big Bear Lake, so the coves, cabins and ski slopes are painted loosely, not as an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "BIG BEAR LAKE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
