An illustrated Bear Mountain State Park poster from the summit lookout. A square stone observation tower with a red tile roof and glazed top storey stands on the cliff at the left, oak branches frame the top corners, and below it the Hudson River bends away south between steep wooded ridges. A pale suspension bridge crosses the river mid-frame with small boats and sailboats on the water beneath it.
About the artwork
A painted, high-detail illustration — individual stones in the tower masonry, hatched foliage on the ridges, soft volume in the clouds — rather than flat vector work. Colours run warm to cool: tan and ochre stonework with a terracotta roof, deep forest and olive green on the hillsides, silver-blue in the river, and a golden band on the horizon under towering cream cumulus. The low sun is doing the work, lighting the tower face and leaving the near hillside in shadow. Title in white capitals at the bottom, BEAR MOUNTAIN above STATE PARK · NEW YORK. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The tower is the landmark. Perkins Memorial Tower on the summit is what makes this view instantly recognisable to anyone who has driven or hiked up.
- The Hudson Highlands in one look. River gorge, bridge and ridgelines together — the geography that made this stretch strategically vital in the Revolution.
- Golden-hour palette. Warm stone against cool water and green hills, which is easier to live with than a high-contrast midday scene.
- An hour from the city. Bear Mountain is the weekend escape for millions of downstate New Yorkers, and the print reads that way.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched on a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The tan stone and terracotta roof make this warmer than most river views, so it holds its own against cream, camel and putty walls and next to leather or walnut furniture. In the walnut-frame setting shown above the wood picks up the tower masonry directly. On a deep green wall the river becomes the brightest element. Espresso or natural frames suit it; white can feel thin against the golden sky.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? 16" x 24" fits a hallway or stair wall. Over a sofa, 24" x 36" keeps the bridge cables and the tower windows crisp. Below 12" x 18" the boats on the river disappear.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed lettering reads BEAR MOUNTAIN on the first line, then STATE PARK · NEW YORK below, in white capitals separated by a centred dot.
How is this different from the Adirondack Park print? Both are New York, but this is the Hudson Highlands in Rockland and Orange counties, about 50 miles north of Manhattan, built around the summit tower and the river gorge. The Adirondack print is a lake and dock scene 200 miles further north, in a very different palette.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
