A Banff National Park poster from the rockpile above Moraine Lake: the Valley of the Ten Peaks standing in a grey-blue wall across the far shore, glacial turquoise water held between dark spruce, and a foreground of pale broken boulders where everyone stops to look.
About the artwork
Painted rather than flattened. The peaks are built in fine hatched strokes so the snow gullies and scree faces read as real rock, the spruce are drawn needle by needle, and the water carries two blues at once — milky pale where the silt sits near the shore, deep turquoise out in the middle. That colour is honest, not stylised: it comes from rock flour, the glacial silt suspended in the lake.
The sheet is laid out like a Canadian park service poster. A cream border frames the image, a line of small dark capitals runs across the top reading ALBERTA · 51.17° N, 115.57° W · EST 1885, and the foot carries BANFF in heavy condensed type over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The view people actually queue for. Not a generic mountain lake — the specific rockpile viewpoint at Moraine Lake, with the Ten Peaks in the right order.
- Coordinates and founding year on the sheet. 51.17° N, 115.57° W, est. 1885 — Canada's first national park, printed as part of the design.
- Turquoise that anchors a room. Strong enough to carry a large wall, cool enough to sit beside oak, linen and white plaster.
- Hangs as a set. Every print in the Canada parks series shares the same border, banner and typographic foot, so a row of them lines up exactly.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The cream border does a lot of work here: it gives the print its own mount, so a plain narrow frame is enough and a wide white mat is unnecessary. Warm white, oatmeal and clay walls let the turquoise sit forward; on a cold grey wall the water goes flat. Natural oak echoes the border, espresso picks up the dark spruce. Good above a sofa or a bed at 24" x 36", and a natural pair with Jasper or Yoho.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Which lake is in the picture? Moraine Lake, in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, seen from the rockpile at its outlet. The text along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 1885.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
