This Assisi watercolor print shows the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi on its arches and buttresses, with the town climbing toward Rocca Maggiore and Monte Subasio behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Assisi, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The basilica's pale pink stone stays close to white paper, with fine brown ink on the arcades and buttresses. Olive trees are dabbed in silvery green, cypresses stand as dark vertical strokes, and the left edge bleeds pink and yellow with long drips. Silver olive and dark cypress greens lead the palette with pale pink stone and blue-violet mountains, and golden sunflowers and a red tractor add accents. The basilica and its square bell tower sit left of center near the top, the stone town spreads up the hill to the fortress at the summit, and a country lane with a low stone wall, a farmhouse and olive groves fills the foreground. The season is late summer, with sunflowers in the valley. "ASSISI" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Friar on the path. A friar in a brown habit walks the stone lane, with two backpacking pilgrims nearby.
- Sunflower valley. A field of yellow sunflowers glows in the valley below.
- Red tractor. A small red tractor works among the olive trees.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Sage, olive and pale pink suit a peaceful bedroom, a reading room or a dining room with natural linen. It is a meaningful gift for a confirmation, a pilgrimage memory or a friend named Francis.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Assisi? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Assisi that brings the basilica, the town and the countryside into one watercolor-style view.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "ASSISI," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
