This Aoraki Mount Cook poster looks straight up the valley to New Zealand's highest peak, its ridges packed with snow and blue ice above a wide glacial basin. A braided river threads through golden tussock in the foreground, splitting around grey shingle bars and scattered boulders while the tawny flanks of the Southern Alps close in from both sides.
About the artwork
The scene is drawn as a flat vector travel-poster illustration, built from clean shapes and hard-edged shadow rather than photographic detail. The palette pairs a flat sky-blue background and pale glacier blues with deep gold and amber tussock, olive-brown hillsides and cool grey stone. The composition is layered: sky, the snow-covered summit, receding ridgelines, then the river leading the eye from the bottom edge back to the mountain. Across the upper sky the poster prints AORAKI in wide spaced capitals with NEW ZEALAND set beneath it in a lighter weight. A thin white margin frames all four sides. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A real alpine landmark. The tallest mountain in the Southern Alps, shown from the valley floor rather than as a distant silhouette.
- Blue and gold that anchors a room. Glacier blues against amber tussock give you a warm and a cool note in one frame.
- Depth you can read from across the room. Four clear planes carry the eye from the river up to the summit.
- Quiet typography. The AORAKI and NEW ZEALAND lettering sits in open sky and never competes with the peak.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The amber tussock warms up cool walls, so this print sits well on soft grey, chalky white or a muted sage like the room shown with the bamboo screen. Light oak and rattan echo the gold in the foreground, while a black frame sharpens the glacier blues against a cream wall. It suits a living room above a low console, a home office over a wooden desk, or a bedroom paired with a mushroom lamp and warm linen bedding.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Is the mountain shown as Aoraki or Mount Cook? Both names refer to the same peak. The print uses the te reo Maori name AORAKI in its lettering.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
