This Anchorage watercolor print looks across Westchester Lagoon to the downtown skyline, with the snow-capped Chugach Mountains behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Anchorage, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The snowy peaks are shaped with cool blue patches with the snow left as bare paper, and the lagoon reflects the towers and mountains in vertical washes. Long blue and violet drips run at the lower left and bottom center, with blue and yellow splatter around the edges. Glacier blue water and mountains and fresh birch green make up the palette, with lavender at the soft edges and a brown moose as accents. The Chugach range stretches across the top with its highest peak on the right, downtown towers sit in the center and a wooden footbridge crosses the lagoon, seen from the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. A grassy bank with birches and a moose drinking at the water fills the foreground in late spring. "ANCHORAGE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Moose at the water. A moose leans down to drink at the lagoon's edge.
- Alaska touches. A floatplane flies overhead and a family of Canada geese swims by.
- City meets mountains. Downtown towers sit right under a wall of snowy peaks.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Glacier blue, white and fresh green bring a clean, cool look to a bedroom, a bathroom or a Scandinavian-style living room. It's a heartfelt gift for an Alaskan, a military family posted in Anchorage or anyone dreaming of a trip north.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Anchorage? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Anchorage. A few details, like the cluster of sailboats on the right, are added for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "ANCHORAGE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
