An Albany, New York travel poster that looks straight down the Empire State Plaza reflecting pool at midday. The dark glass slab of the Corning Tower rises behind the water, flanked by the squat agency towers on the right and a pale marble block with an arcaded base on the left. A speckled terrazzo esplanade, ruled into wide grid lines, carries the eye to the pool edge.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration built from hard-edged shapes and long straight rules, with no outlines and only a handful of colours: a flat teal-cyan sky, cream terrazzo paving flecked with grey, mid-blue water, and blue-grey glass curtain wall picked out with fine vertical mullions. Low red-brick rooftops of the older downtown sit far off between the towers, and a thin band of the Hudson valley shows on the horizon. Type is set in white: ALBANY in large sans capitals, NEW YORK spaced out beneath it. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A skyline nobody else prints — Albany's modernist government complex, not another generic downtown view.
- Architecture first — the tower, the arcade and the paving grid are drawn as clean geometry, so it reads well from across a room.
- Cool, calm palette — teal and sand do the work of a colour accent without shouting.
- For the capital-region crowd — state workers, SUNY alumni and anyone who has crossed that plaza in February.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The teal sky is strong enough to anchor a wall on its own, so it does its best work on plain white or pale grey paint, as in the oak-framed photograph above. Against the sage green room it turns cooler and more architectural; on the terracotta wall the cream paving warms up and the blue reads almost turquoise. Pale oak and brushed steel suit it better than heavy dark wood.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a sideboard or a desk, 18" x 24" is the safe choice. Over a sofa or bed, go to 24" x 36" or larger so the plaza grid keeps its depth.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? ALBANY across the top, with NEW YORK in smaller spaced capitals underneath. No other text.
Is this Albany, New York or Alexandria Bay? This is Albany, the New York state capital, drawn at the Empire State Plaza. It is a different place from the Thousand Islands towns further north.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
