A Wisconsin Dells travel poster drawn at water level inside the river narrows. Weathered sandstone cliffs close in from both banks, a free-standing pillar of rock rises in the centre with pines growing straight out of its crown, and low shelves of stone step down into the water on the right. The channel is glassy and still, so the whole cliff wall comes back as a soft vertical reflection across the bottom half of the print.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration built from stacked colour bands that follow the bedding lines in the rock, which is what makes the sandstone read as layered rather than lumpy. The palette runs cream, buff and apricot in the sunlit stone, rust and brick along the weathered seams, deep umber in the shaded left bank, with pine and moss green in the trees and a strong cobalt sky above. The water is a muted blue-green streaked with pale gold and pink from the reflected cliffs. Title lettering is white spaced capitals in the sky, WISCONSIN DELLS above WISCONSIN. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The gorge, not the waterparks — this is the river scenery the Dells was named for, before the resorts arrived.
- A mirrored composition — the still water doubles the cliffs and gives the print a calm, symmetrical weight.
- Warm stone, cool water — apricot sandstone against blue-green river is an easy palette to build a room around.
- For boat-tour regulars — anyone who has taken the Upper Dells boat between those pillars on a summer afternoon.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The apricot and cream stone sits beautifully on beige, oatmeal or warm white walls, and the beige room with the oak console in the photographs above is close to the artwork's own mid-tone. Light oak echoes the sandstone directly; a walnut frame pulls out the rust seams for a warmer, older look. Against sage green the pines in the print tie the two together.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The banded rock and the reflection both gain from scale, so 24" x 36" is the natural pick above a sofa or bed. In a bathroom or small hallway, 12" x 18" still reads clearly.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? WISCONSIN DELLS in large white capitals with WISCONSIN set smaller underneath.
What am I actually looking at? The narrow sandstone gorge of the Wisconsin River, where the current has cut the soft rock into cliffs, ledges and isolated pillars. The pines you see are rooted directly in the top of that stone.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
