A White Mountains illustrated print from the shoulder of a mountain road at peak colour. The two-lane blacktop with its double yellow line swings out of the foreground and drops away past a guardrail into the valley. Orange and crimson maples crowd a granite outcrop on the left, spruce spires break the skyline, and ridge after ridge fades to blue behind a single dark summit.
About the artwork
Painted rather than flat-blocked, and the foliage is where it shows: the near maples are built from thousands of separate leaf marks in pumpkin, rust, gold and wine, while the far hillsides break into a mottled orange and green quilt. Granite in the foreground is faceted with cool grey shadow, the road surface carries a soft warm sheen, and the distant ranges are laid in as flat washes of dusty blue that get paler with depth. Tall cream cumulus stack above a sky that deepens to teal at the top edge. The lettering sits along the bottom in white: WHITE MOUNTAINS with NEW HAMPSHIRE letterspaced under it. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- It is a drive, not a summit. The road pulls you into the picture, which is how most people actually experience these mountains.
- Peak week colour. Every stage of the turn is in there, from green through gold to deep wine red.
- Real distance. Five or six ranks of ridge recede into haze behind the valley.
- Warm and cool balanced. Hot maples in front, cold blue mountains behind, so the print never feels one-note.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The orange and rust in the foreground want a quiet wall: cream, oatmeal, soft white or a warm grey. Against those the blue ridges keep it from feeling too hot. Natural oak framing suits the maple tones, as in the bedside sideboard photograph above; white framing lifts the sky and makes the whole thing feel brighter in a smaller room.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The valley detail rewards scale. 18" x 24" is fine in a hallway; 24" x 36" or larger keeps the individual leaf colour and the receding ridgelines from flattening out.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives stretched in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Is this the same as your other White Mountains design? No, there are two. The other is a flat vector illustration made from clean colour shapes with the place name printed across the top of the image. This is the painted version, with leaf-by-leaf foliage, faceted granite, layered atmospheric haze and the title set along the bottom edge.
What does the print say? WHITE MOUNTAINS in bold capitals at the foot of the image, with NEW HAMPSHIRE spaced out beneath.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
