About the artwork

Painted rather than flat-blocked, and the foliage is where it shows: the near maples are built from thousands of separate leaf marks in pumpkin, rust, gold and wine, while the far hillsides break into a mottled orange and green quilt. Granite in the foreground is faceted with cool grey shadow, the road surface carries a soft warm sheen, and the distant ranges are laid in as flat washes of dusty blue that get paler with depth.
