A Van Gogh café terrace print: a yellow awning glows over a cobbled street while the night sky above turns deep cobalt and fills with haloed stars. The painting is set as an exhibition poster, with Vincent van Gogh and Café Terrace at Night in serif type below the image.
About the artwork
There is no black in the night here. Van Gogh lit the whole left half from the café lamp and let the sky carry the contrast, so warm gaslight and cold starlight meet along the edge of the awning. Short curved strokes lay the cobbles like a current pulling your eye down the street, past the tables and into the dark buildings at the centre. A waiter in white stands among the chairs, a lantern hangs under the canopy, and a green tree breaks the corner on the right. Thick paint and dark contour lines hold every shape in place.
Why you'll love it
- Reads from across the room. The yellow block carries at any distance, so it works on a far wall.
- Warms a dining corner. The café subject suits a kitchen table, a bar cart or a living room.
- Hangs as a pair. The serif caption matches every print in the series, so two or three line up cleanly.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8\" x 12\" through 30\" x 40\", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12\" x 16\" to 30\" x 40\".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12\" x 16\" to 30\" x 40\".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it where evening light already collects: above a sideboard, a dining table or a reading chair. Black frames sharpen the sky; natural oak picks up the awning. At 24\" x 36\" it holds a wall alone, and at 16\" x 20\" it sits well beside a second portrait-format print.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does the text on the poster say? Only the artist and the title of the painting, in small serif capitals under the image.
Is this an original painting? No. It is a modern gallery-style reproduction printed to order, not an original work and not an officially licensed museum edition.
Which room suits it best? Living rooms and dining rooms, where the warm yellow has space to work against a plain wall.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
