This Udaipur watercolor print shows the cream-white City Palace rising over Lake Pichola, seen from the stone steps of Ambrai Ghat. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Udaipur, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines outline the domed chhatris, arched balconies and ghat steps, and the lake is washed in blue with long ivory reflections of the palace. Lake blue, ivory and cream with green hills form the palette, while bougainvillea pink, red and blue boats and colorful saris add accents. The multi-story palace fills the right half and climbs toward the top, white havelis edge the water, and the wide lake opens in the middle. Green Aravalli hills with a small building on a peak rise at left, and the full lake and green slopes suggest the weeks after the monsoon. "UDAIPUR" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Ghat-side life. Women in saris wash clothes on the steps as pigeons gather.
- Moored wooden boats. Blue and red boats wait at the landing.
- Long reflections. The palace stretches across the water in ivory streaks.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Soft blues and ivory make it a natural fit for a primary bedroom, bathroom or airy living room with white and sand tones. It is a romantic gift for a honeymoon memory or an anniversary trip to Rajasthan.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Udaipur? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the City Palace and Lake Pichola, made to capture the lakeside mood rather than an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "UDAIPUR," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
