A Two Towers Bologna poster looking down over the old city: two brick towers rising out of an unbroken field of terracotta roofs, one slim and upright, the shorter one clearly out of plumb, with an arcaded street running away beneath them.
About the artwork
The view is oblique and high, and the roofs are the real subject — hundreds of tiled planes in orange, rust and pale coral, broken by chimney stacks, ridge lines and the odd small courtyard, filling the frame from bottom edge to horizon. The towers are the only things that escape it. The taller one is drawn as a slender brick shaft with a bracketed top; the shorter one leans, and the artist has laid one whole side of it in flat dark blue-grey shadow so the tilt is impossible to miss. Both are speckled with the small square holes left in old brickwork. Down the middle, a street cuts through in shadow with portico arches ranked along both sides, market awnings and a crowd of tiny figures moving under them. Behind, a band of sage-green hills and a flat cyan sky. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Italy beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The lean is the point. One tower straight, one tipped, and the shadow on its flank is what makes you see it.
- Porticoes at street level. The arcaded street below gives the print a human scale under all that roof.
- Orange all the way. A near single-hue picture with one flat band of cyan sky as relief.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This one is graphic and confident, so it can take a strong wall: charcoal, deep teal or ink blue all make the burnt orange jump. It suits a study, a home office or a stairwell landing rather than a soft bedroom. Black metal shelving, dark leather and a plain desk lamp are the right neighbours. A black frame is the obvious choice; white keeps it poster-like and modern. Pair it with the Verona print for two northern Italian cities in the same red range.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is the shorter tower really leaning? It is drawn well off vertical, and the dark shaded face down one side is what makes the tilt read from across the room.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
