A koi fish wall art print in soft watercolour: two orange and white koi swim in an S-shaped curve through grey-blue water beneath a pale full moon, with a trailing willow branch at the upper right and the inscriptions 游鯉図, 令和六年春 and 松風筆 with a seal on beige paper.
About the artwork
The fish are painted in loose washes that blur slightly at the edges, while white ripple rings circle them on the surface. Small gold flecks are scattered across the water like sunlight, and the thin willow leaves are drawn with delicate lines. The S-curve of the two fish gives the picture a gentle, continuous flow. The inscription reads “picture of swimming koi” and “spring, Reiwa 6” (2024), followed by a brush signature. Vintage. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- Peaceful and flowing. Soft washes and gentle movement calm a room.
- A lucky pair. Two koi stand for harmony and good fortune.
- Made for calm spaces. Suits bedrooms and bathrooms.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it above a bed, in a bathroom or beside a reading chair. White or natural frames keep it soft. It works well at 12" x 16" to 18" x 24".
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does the inscription mean? 游鯉図 means “picture of swimming koi”; 令和六年春 means spring of Reiwa 6, the year 2024.
What does a pair of koi symbolise? Harmony, love and good fortune.
Will it suit a bathroom? Yes, on a wall away from direct splashes; framed canvas is the practical choice.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
