A Tuktut Nogait National Park poster looking down a canyon in the Arctic tundra: a waterfall dropping over a layered rock lip, whitewater running away between sheer banded walls, gold and olive tundra rolling flat to the horizon on both sides, and a bank of red and yellow wildflowers along the near edge.
About the artwork
The trick of this sheet is that the canyon is invisible until you are on it. The tundra reads as a single unbroken plain, then the ground simply opens and drops — the walls drawn in horizontal beds of grey, tan and rust, the river a hard white line at the bottom. Colour is deliberately hot for an Arctic print: gold and ochre across the plain, deep red and yellow in the foreground flowers, with only the water cool. Along the near ridge a line of small caribou walks in single file, drawn no larger than a fingernail.
The sheet is the Canadian park service layout used across this series, with the type in warm tan: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading NORTHWEST TERRITORIES · 68.81° N, 122.78° W · EST 1996, and TUKTUT NOGAIT at the foot over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The name means "young caribou". The park protects the calving grounds of the Bluenose West herd — the line of animals on the ridge is the point of the picture.
- A canyon nobody expects. Arctic tundra is not supposed to have gorges, and the sudden drop is what makes this composition unusual.
- Hot colour in a cold place. Gold, rust and red rather than blue and white — it warms a room the other northern prints cool down.
- Hangs as a set. Every print in the Canada parks series shares the same border, banner and typographic foot, so a row of them lines up exactly.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm ochre and rust make this an easy print for a living room: cream, oatmeal, clay and soft terracotta walls all take it, and it stays strong on white. Natural oak echoes the tundra gold; espresso picks up the canyon shadows. Good large, at 24" x 36" or more, so the caribou on the ridge stay legible, and it pairs well with Aulavik and Ivvavik.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What are the small animals on the ridge? Caribou, walking in single file along the canyon edge. The banner along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 1996.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
