A Trolltunga travel poster from the approach path: the flat slab of rock jutting straight out into empty air, its shadow thrown on the cliff face beneath it, and far below a long lake running away between mountain walls into pale blue distance.
About the artwork
The composition is a diagonal — scree and boulders in the near foreground running down from the bottom left, the rock tongue itself at the pivot, then nothing but air and water. The tongue is the only fully lit object in the frame, drawn in warm bone and sand with its bedding lines visible, and the shadow it casts is what makes it read as unsupported rather than resting on something. Everything else recedes through five progressively paler blues, so the far end of the lake is barely separated from the sky. The stone underfoot is drawn boulder by boulder with lichen and low scrub, which puts the viewer on the path rather than in a helicopter. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Norway beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The shadow sells the drop. One drawn shadow does more than any amount of perspective.
- Warm rock, cold distance. A single lit shape in an otherwise blue frame.
- Earned, not arrived at. The foreground path is part of the image, which suits anyone who has done the walk.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool blue with a sand-coloured accent, close to a neutral and easy to place on white, grey or soft blue walls. It is a natural office or stairwell print, and a good gift for a hiker. Natural oak keeps it light; black frames deepen the drop. It pairs with the Geirangerfjord print for two views of the same landscape from opposite kinds of viewpoint.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the rocky path just before the ledge, looking out along it to the lake far below.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
