A Tobermory travel poster seen from out on the water: the whole painted terrace lined along the quay in pink, yellow, blue and terracotta, a steep wooded hill rising behind it, and small boats scattered across a rippled harbour.
About the artwork
Three horizontal bands, and the middle one carries the colour. The terrace is drawn house by house — tall narrow fronts, each a different painted shade, with grey slate roofs, chimney stacks, dormer windows and shopfronts at street level, all sharing one continuous roofline. Behind and above, the hillside is dense summer woodland in layered greens, dark conifers among lighter broadleaves, climbing to the top of the frame with a few pale clouds showing through. A blue-grey stone building with a steep gable and a small tower stands out at the upper right, with a red-brown house higher up the slope. Along the quay runs a stone sea wall; a red-hulled fishing boat with a bare mast lies against a wooden jetty on the right and dinghies sit out on the moorings. The bottom half is harbour water in fine horizontal ripples with star-shaped sun sparkle to the left. The title reads Isle of Mull in wide-tracked uppercase with Scotland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A full row of painted fronts. Pink, lemon, blue, cream and terracotta side by side along one quay.
- Green above, blue below. The woodland and the water frame the colour so it never turns loud.
- Working boats. A red fishing hull and moored dinghies keep it a harbour, not a postcard.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
All those painted fronts make it a cheerful kitchen or breakfast-room print, and it earns its place above a dresser or a run of open shelving. Off-white, pale grey and soft duck-egg walls let the terrace do the talking; anything strongly coloured starts competing. Natural oak framing picks up the warm yellows, and a plain white frame keeps it fresh. Enamelware, blue-and-white china and a wooden board suit it. It hangs well beside the Tórshavn print.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Does the print say Tobermory on it? No — the lettering on the artwork reads Isle of Mull with Scotland beneath, although the painted harbour shown is Tobermory itself.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
