A roman baths bath poster from the edge of the great pool: steam drifting off water the colour of jade, honey limestone terraces running down both sides, and the pinnacled tower of the abbey rising behind the roofline.
About the artwork
The pool takes the lower two-thirds and it is the part worth looking at closely — long ribbons of gold and cream reflection laid over green, wobbling where the surface moves, with the whole colonnade repeated upside down and stretched. In the immediate foreground the flagstone surround is drawn slab by slab, each one a slightly different grey, which sets the viewer standing at the water's edge. Both flanks are architecture in warm limestone: round columns with plain capitals, arched openings behind them, iron lamps on brackets, and a balustrade above carrying a row of standing statues, small but each given its own posture. Steam gathers in pale scalloped puffs at the far end. Behind that, the abbey tower with its crown of pinnacles and tall traceried windows, and a Georgian block at the right with sash windows and a parapet. Title in wide-tracked uppercase reading BATH, with England beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Reflections in green water. The best passage in the print, and the reason it reads as warm rather than cold.
- Honey stone against jade. A colour pairing you rarely see in a travel print.
- Two eras in one frame. Roman columns below, gothic pinnacles above the rooftops.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm stone and still water make this an unusually calming print, and the steam gives it an obvious home in a bathroom, spa corner or bedroom. It sits well on cream, greige and pale sage walls, beside oak, marble, brass and folded linen. A natural oak frame follows the limestone; espresso wood deepens the green of the pool. Hang it with the Oxford print or the Castle Combe print if you are grouping English subjects along a landing.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is the abbey part of the picture? Yes — its tower and pinnacles sit directly behind the bath terrace, which is exactly how the two stand in the town.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
