A dark hedges poster looking straight down the avenue, where two rows of old beeches lean in from either verge until their limbs knit together overhead and the lane runs off to a small bright gap of sky.
About the artwork
This one is nearly all trunk and canopy, and the drawing is what carries it. The beeches are old and stressed, so every trunk leans off vertical and the limbs twist, fork and cross, some almost horizontal across the top of the frame. Bark is built from long hatched ridges in blue-green and slate, with mint edges where the sun catches a shoulder. The foliage is not one green but flat patches of teal, sea-green and acid lime laid over each other, dense above and thinning toward the far end so the tunnel appears to open. The lane runs up the centre as a stippled grey band, with one long wedge of warm sunlight along its left side and the trunk shadows striped across it. The verges are stroked in bright directional lines. At the vanishing point sits the only pale note: a small opening of duck-egg sky over a distant field. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Northern Ireland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A tunnel, drawn as one shape. The trees arch into a single form, so the print has a strong silhouette even at small sizes.
- Cold green with one warm stripe. The sunlit strip on the lane is the only warmth, and it makes the greens colder.
- Bark you can read. Every trunk is individually drawn, ridge by ridge, rather than repeated from a stamp.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Give it a corridor, a stairwell or an entryway, somewhere you walk toward it head on, because the perspective works hardest when you approach it. Deep green, charcoal, greige and dark plum walls all suit it, and unlike most landscape prints it holds up on a dark wall rather than disappearing into one. A black frame is the natural choice; walnut works if the room is warm. It sits well with the Cobh or Killarney castle prints as an Irish trio.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is there any horizon in it? Only a small gap of pale sky and field at the far end of the avenue. Everything else in the print is trees, verge and lane.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
