A Texas State Capitol poster taken straight up the avenue: the pink granite dome and its lantern cupola rising dead centre, live oaks closing in from both kerbs, and an empty asphalt roadway with white lane lines running out of the bottom of the frame toward it.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with soft airbrushed shading on the stonework, held to a strict symmetrical axis. The granite is drawn in salmon, coral and rose with darker terracotta in the recesses, and the dome's ring of windows reads as small teal-green slots against the warm stone. Behind it sits an unbroken deep cobalt sky, no cloud at all, which pushes the building forward hard. The oaks are two greens — a bright leaf green in sun, a dark blue-green in shade — over a grey road and a narrow strip of lawn. Printed type reads AUSTIN above TEXAS in white sans-serif capitals. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Pink granite against cobalt — the colour pairing the building is actually known for, not a generic civic beige.
- Dead-centre symmetry — the composition is mirrored, which makes it an easy piece to hang alone.
- The dome is drawn in full — columned drum, window ring, rotunda and lantern, all legible.
- Quiet street — no traffic and no crowd, so the architecture carries the whole poster.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
That flat cobalt sky is a big block of saturated colour, so it needs a plain wall to sit against — white, warm grey or oat. On the beige wall in the photographs above the salmon granite warms up noticeably and the blue stops shouting. A white or natural oak frame keeps the pink clean; espresso pulls the print toward the darker greens in the trees. A good fit for a home office or a hallway where the symmetry can be centred properly.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The dome detail holds up small, so 12" x 18" or 16" x 24" works above a desk. Over a sofa or a console, go to 24" x 36" so the avenue has depth.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed for your own frame. Choose framed canvas for a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed type reads AUSTIN across the top with TEXAS beneath it. The Capitol itself is not named in the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
