A Taughannock Falls New York poster looking straight up the gorge from the creek bed at the end of the trail. One narrow column of white water drops clear of the rim and falls the full height of the wall into a shallow plunge pool, ringed by a curved amphitheatre of layered shale. Rust-stained cobbles fill the foreground where the creek runs out over flat rock.
About the artwork
Hard-edged vector illustration with heavy horizontal banding cut into the cliff faces to show the bedded rock. The palette is cool and mineral: dove grey and bone on the sunlit left wall, charcoal and blue-grey in the shaded amphitheatre, a broad band of iron-oxide rust and brick red where the seep stains the rock and the creek stones, plus small hits of pine green on the rim trees and a clean blue sky slot at the top. Details to find: the sharp lip where the water leaves the rock, the pale fan of spray at the base, and the flat shale shelves stepping through the streambed. Typography is white sans-serif reading TAUGHANNOCK FALLS across the top with NEW YORK below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- One clean plunge — a single free-falling column, taller than Niagara, framed by a natural rock amphitheatre.
- Grey and rust — the iron staining gives a cool print an unexpected warm counterweight.
- Cayuga Lake country — the Finger Lakes gorge above Trumansburg, for people who have walked the trail.
- Scale you can feel — the cliffs run out of the frame on both sides, which makes the fall read tall.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Grey shale with rust running through it is a quiet, cool image that needs a warm surround. It looks right against the beige wall and oak console in the photographs above, and it holds up on greige, stone or off-white paint. A natural oak frame picks up the rust band; a black frame pushes the whole thing colder and more graphic. Good in a bedroom or a stairwell where the vertical drop has room.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The falls are narrow, so scale helps. 24" x 36" over a bed or sofa keeps the column strong; 18" x 24" is the smallest that still shows the banded rock clearly.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The lettering reads TAUGHANNOCK FALLS with NEW YORK beneath. The site is Taughannock Falls State Park, in the Finger Lakes region.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
