A Tallinn travel poster from the upper town wall: a slope of red clay roofs and stepped medieval gables falling away below, two church towers standing clear of them, greenery spilling over the parapet in the foreground, and the Baltic flat and blue across the whole horizon.
About the artwork
Red is the whole engine. The roofs are laid in five or six values of clay and rust, tile courses drawn, so a mass that could easily have gone flat instead reads as hundreds of separate buildings pitched at different angles. Punctuating them are the town's dark conical turrets and the two towers — one white with a green spire, one grey-green — which are the only cool verticals in a warm field. The wall in the foreground is drawn with its stone courses and a tumble of pale foliage over the top, giving the print a near edge to stand behind. Above it all the sea is a single flat band, deliberately empty, which is what keeps the roofscape from feeling crowded. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Estonia beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A wall of terracotta. The roofscape is the most colour-dense passage in the whole series.
- Medieval and intact. Turrets, gables and town wall all present, none of it reconstructed-looking.
- The sea gives it air. A flat blue band at the top stops the density from overwhelming.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm and quite saturated, so it wants a plain wall — white, bone or a soft grey-green. It works well in a living room or study and pairs naturally with the Cesky Krumlov print, which shares the same red-roof-and-river palette. Walnut and black frames both deepen it; pale oak lets the reds run a little hot. Give it 16" x 24" or larger so the individual roofs stay readable.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the viewing terrace on the upper town, looking down over the lower old town toward the sea.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
