A Syros travel poster from the promenade at Ermoupoli: a stone-paved waterfront running away to the right, deep blue water sparkling on the left, and the pastel town rising in tiers to a domed church across the bay.
About the artwork
The design is cut on a diagonal. Paving slabs in cream and pale grey fill the bottom right and lead away from you, each slab given its own edge and grain, with low boulders piled against a rough stone wall and a neoclassical building above them in blush pink and ochre, shutters and cornices picked out. Cast-iron lamp posts and a bench stand along the quay. Left of the diagonal there is nothing but sea — cobalt and navy worked over with short white strokes where the light breaks on it. Across the bay the town climbs the hillside in small blocks of apricot, rose, cream and pale yellow under terracotta roofs, with masts along the harbour front and a blue-grey dome and bell tower at the summit. The sky is a flat, clear blue. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Greece beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A pavement you can walk into. The perspective starts at your feet, which is rare in a travel print.
- Neoclassical, not whitewashed. This island builds in pink, ochre and cream rather than the usual blue and white.
- Deep blue water with real sparkle. Hundreds of small strokes instead of a flat wash.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm and cool at the same time, so it works in a bright living room as easily as a bedroom. Cream, sand and soft plaster walls suit it, and it sits well with cane, ceramic and light wood. A natural oak frame follows the paving; a white frame keeps it crisp and coastal. It makes an easy pair with the other Greek island designs in the shop, or with any of the harbour views if you want a wall of waterfronts.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Which town is shown? Ermoupoli, the main port of the island, seen from the promenade across the bay with its hillside houses and the domed church above them.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
