A Steyr travel poster from the far bank: turquoise water sweeping around a bend, pastel townhouses lined along a stone quay, the tall spire of the parish church above them and a castle on the wooded ridge behind.
About the artwork
The river is the structure. It comes in wide at the bottom right, narrows as it bends left, and every current line is drawn as a long pale stroke over deep jade, so the water reads as moving rather than still. On the far side a stone quay wall runs the length of the town, with a row of houses above it in butter yellow, dusty pink, cream and pale green, each under a red pantile roof with shuttered windows, and a line of clipped trees along the promenade. The church is the tall element — a slim spire and a long gabled nave in the same warm red. Above the roofs the hillside is dense summer woodland broken by limestone crags, and a pale castle with pointed towers sits on the crest. In the near corner, rocks, dry grass and a young tree hold the foreground. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Austria beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Pastel houses on a stone quay. A whole street of them, each one drawn separately.
- A turquoise river. The water is the largest colour in the print, and it is a cold, clear green-blue.
- A castle on the ridge. It closes the top of the picture and stops the eye wandering off.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Calm and a little old-fashioned, in the good sense. The pastel range makes it easy beside cream, greige and soft green walls, and it looks right in a dining room or a study rather than a stark modern space. Warm oak and walnut suit the roofs; espresso frames pick up the woodland. It sits well next to the other Austrian designs, and beside the Schafberg Railway print if you want mountains and a river town together.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is on the hill above the town? A castle with pointed towers on the wooded ridge, drawn as it appears from the far bank, above the church spire and the riverside houses.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
