A Statue of Liberty poster drawn from the water on the approach: the figure in weathered verdigris with a gold torch flame, the eleven-point star fort and its sandstone pedestal below her, and the Manhattan skyline sitting low and hazy across the harbor on the left.
About the artwork
Flat, hard-edged shapes with fine stippled shading on the copper and the water. The palette is built on three blocks of colour: verdigris and sea-green on the statue, warm tan and rose-brown sandstone in the pedestal and fort walls, and a deep cobalt harbor flecked with small white glints. Above it a clear mid-blue sky with a bank of cream cumulus stacked to the right, and a strip of dark green trees along the island's edge. Distant Manhattan is reduced to pale blue-grey silhouettes. Printed type reads STATUE OF LIBERTY above NEW YORK CITY in white sans-serif capitals. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The ferry angle — seen across open water with the city behind, the way most people first see her.
- Verdigris against sandstone — the green copper and the warm tan base carry the whole colour scheme.
- The fort is drawn properly — the star-shaped base is rendered with its arched openings, not flattened into a plinth.
- Half the poster is water — a large calm field of blue that keeps the composition from feeling busy.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The cobalt water is strong enough to anchor a white or off-white wall on its own, and the verdigris green keeps it from reading as a plain nautical blue. It sits comfortably in the terracotta room in the photographs above, where the sandstone pedestal picks up the wall tone. Natural oak or white frames keep the harbor light open; black frames make the sky read cooler. Good above a desk or in an entryway where a single vertical piece has to do the work.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Over a sofa or a bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" suits the wide field of water. In a hallway or a gallery wall, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24" works better.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed for your own frame. Choose framed canvas for a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed type reads STATUE OF LIBERTY across the top with NEW YORK CITY beneath it, in white capitals against the sky.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
