A St Paul Minnesota poster looking down from the bluff onto the great copper-green dome of the cathedral, its lantern and cross set against the sky, with rows of red and cream rooftops running out behind it and the Mississippi River curving along the far edge of the city.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with hard edges and carefully ruled architecture. The dome sets the palette: oxidised copper in three or four greens, from deep viridian in shadow to a pale mint where the light hits, repeated on the smaller corner turrets and the roof slopes below. Around it the stone is drawn in warm sand and cream, with arched windows, columns and stepped cornices picked out cleanly. The city beyond is a dense field of terracotta, ochre and grey rooftops fading into a soft green haze, and the river reads as a flat pale blue band. Dark green treetops frame the lower corners. Printed at the top in white capitals: ST. PAUL, with MINNESOTA beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Unmistakably St Paul — the domed cathedral on the bluff is the one silhouette that separates this city from its twin across the river.
- Copper green carries the print — an unusual dominant colour for wall art, and it reads beautifully against warm stone.
- Real architectural drawing — columns, arches, turrets and roof pitches are drawn properly rather than suggested.
- The river in the background — the Mississippi bend places the city rather than floating it on a blank sky.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Copper green and warm sandstone make this one of the easiest prints here to place. The sage green room in the photographs above is the natural match, since the wall and the dome share a tone. It also works on cream, olive or deep forest walls. A walnut or espresso frame deepens the stone; a natural oak frame keeps it lighter and lets the green lead.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this St Paul or Minneapolis? St Paul. The two cities sit side by side, but this is the St Paul side, drawn from the bluff above the cathedral looking across St Paul's own rooftops. Minneapolis is a separate print.
What size should I get? The rooftop field behind the dome is dense with detail, so 24" x 36" is the size that does it justice. At 16" x 24" the dome still holds the wall in a hallway or office.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed. Matte canvas arrives stretched and ready to hang, and framed canvas adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What is the domed building? The Cathedral of Saint Paul, the landmark that stands on the hill above downtown. It is drawn as part of the city view, as a piece of architecture in its setting.
What does the poster say? ST. PAUL in large white capitals, with MINNESOTA set smaller directly below.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
