A Sigtuna travel poster taken from the old shore lane: a row of falu-red and mustard timber cottages standing right on the water, a birch leaning in overhead, and a wide cobbled path running down to the lake in late afternoon sun.
About the artwork
The composition is a diagonal. Houses fill the left edge, the lake opens on the right, and between them the cobbled shore sweeps from the bottom corner up to a vanishing point at the waterline. Those cobbles are the real work here — hundreds of rounded field stones drawn one by one, cream and gold where the low sun crosses them, deep petrol blue in the shadow of the eaves. The nearest cottage is deep falu red with white window frames, a white plank door and a small flight of steps; behind it a mustard-yellow house, then more red gables, all under grey shingled roofs. Overhead, birch leaves in yellow-green break up the flat blue sky. Grey standing stones line the water, and the lake runs from turquoise over the shallows to teal, with a thin dark shore on the horizon. Titled Sigtuna in wide-tracked uppercase with Sweden beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Falu red against turquoise. The Swedish paint colour set straight beside cold lake water, which is what makes it read as Nordic.
- The cobbles carry the picture. Two thirds of the print is stonework and raking light, not sky.
- A quiet town, not a landmark. Wooden houses and a shoreline rather than a monument.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The long path pulling into the distance makes this an entrance-hall print — it gives a narrow wall somewhere to go. Warm white, greige or pale putty walls let the red sing without shouting; it also holds up against soft clay. Pair it with an oak bench, a wool runner and black hooks. A black frame sharpens the roof lines, while natural oak echoes the timber cladding. It hangs well beside the Stavanger print for a two-town Nordic pairing.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What season is it showing? Early autumn — the birch overhead has turned yellow-green and the sun is low enough to throw long shadows across the stones.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
