A Shoshone Falls Idaho poster showing the broad horseshoe of the Snake River dropping over dark basalt in several separate curtains. White water fans down the main ledge on the left and pours in a heavier column on the right, meeting in a churn of foam that runs out into a deep blue-grey pool. Sagebrush and cracked ochre rock fill the foreground, and the flat canyon rim closes the top of the frame.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration in hard-edged shapes, with the falling water described by hundreds of thin vertical slivers of white, cream and pale blue rather than by any blur. The palette is dry-country: tan, ochre and rust in the canyon walls, near-black and slate in the wet basalt, silver-green in the sagebrush clumps, and a graded blue-grey in the river. The sky is a pale washed blue with a low haze band along the rim, which is what makes the canyon feel wide. Typography is a white sans-serif reading SHOSHONE FALLS with IDAHO below in smaller letterspaced caps. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Water drawn line by line — the curtains are built from individual strands, so the falls hold up at large sizes.
- Desert and waterfall together — sagebrush and bare basalt in the same frame as the cascade, which is what makes this canyon unusual.
- A warm-neutral palette — tan, rust and silver-green with one cool blue, so it behaves like a neutral on most walls.
- The Niagara of the West — a landmark most travel poster sets skip entirely.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The ochre and tan canyon rock makes this one of the easiest prints to place on warm walls — it settles straight into the terracotta room and the beige console wall in the photographs above. The silver-green sagebrush also picks up the sage wall shown here, which keeps the whole thing quiet and tonal. Natural oak or walnut framing agrees with the rock; a white frame keeps the falls bright.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The fine water strands read best from 18" x 27" upward. For a sofa or bed wall, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" is the right weight.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The print reads SHOSHONE FALLS across the sky, with IDAHO beneath it in smaller capitals. No town name or other text appears.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
