A Sawtooth Mountains poster looking up a glacial valley in central Idaho from the shore of an alpine lake. The serrated crest that gives the range its name runs across the middle of the frame, snow still lying in the couloirs between the spires. Dark forested ridges close in on both sides, and the lake below holds a soft reflection of the whole wall of rock.
About the artwork
Rendered as detailed painted illustration, with the granite built up in narrow facets so each tooth on the ridgeline separates cleanly from the next. The palette is dusty rose and pale salmon on the sunlit rock, blue-grey in the shadowed faces, slate blue in the water, and deep pine green in the conifers that run down both flanks. A single tall spire-shaped fir stands against the sky on the left, a small tree-covered spit juts into the lake, and cream cumulus piles up behind the summits under a clear pale blue sky. Caption in white capitals along the bottom: SAWTOOTH MOUNTAINS above IDAHO. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The ridgeline earns the name — the jagged saw-tooth crest is drawn sharply enough to count the individual spires.
- Two images in one — the mirrored peaks in the lake give the lower half of the print as much to look at as the upper.
- Depth you can read — foreground boulders, mid-valley forest and distant granite are each pitched at a different value, so the valley genuinely recedes.
- Rose against pine — warm salmon rock over cool green forest is an unusual pairing for a mountain print and keeps it from going grey.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The dusty rose in the granite is what makes this one easy to place: it warms up against off-white, greige and pale clay walls instead of fighting them. Hang it where there is a bit of wood in the room, as with the teak sideboard and the oak shelf in the photographs above. Natural or espresso framing keeps the forest greens grounded.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The ridgeline detail is fine, so give it room: 18" x 27" and up keeps the individual spires distinct. 30" x 40" suits a stairwell or a tall living-room wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
Is this a specific lake? The composition is a valley view of the Sawtooth crest reflected in one of the range's alpine lakes rather than a named survey point, so it works as a portrait of the range as a whole.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
